Commercial
LEED certification / green design - review and green design of the renovation of the Unitarian Universalist Church of the North Hills in Pittsburgh, PA. Project completed while with Rothschild Doyno Architects, Spring 2007. Project intended to gain LEED certification and highlights included the use of natural ventilation, daylighting principles, increase building envelope insulation, and energy efficient HVAC systems and controls, and waterless and low-flow fixtures.

Green project review - Green Communities (a funding source for green projects) review of 108 unit Senior Housing construction project in the Homewood neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA for the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh. Project completed while with Rothschild Doyno Architects, Fall 2006.

Green design principles - green design principles and discussions for the adaptive reuse of a warehouse into office space for Rothschild Doyno Architects. Project completed while with Rothschild Doyno Architects, Spring 2007. Project highlights include green roof concepts, bio-fuel boilers, building envelope insulation, rainwater harvesting, daylighting principles, and solar shading concepts.


Residential
Green principles applied – green principles were applied to an existing residence at 118 Richbarn Rd. Pittsburgh, PA. Principles applied were increased building envelope insulation, rainwater harvesting for landscaping, use of Energy Star appliances, and energy efficient lighting.

Green principles applied – green principles were applied to the new construction of a three bedroom home in Canonsburg, PA. Principles applied were building envelope insulation using Structural Insulated Panels for above ground walls and roof, insulated foundation walls, geo-thermal heating system, energy star appliances and windows, and rainwater harvesting. Project scheduled for completion under the supervision of Frank Quinn Construction, Fall 2007.

Green principles applied – green principles were applied to the addition of a three bedroom home located in Stewartstown, PA. Principles applied were building envelope insulation for walls and roof, sealing all penetrations, radiant floor heating system, instant hot water systems, energy star appliances, efficient doors and windows. The project included a Master Bath and Great Room which resulted in an 80% increase in square footage with a 30% increase in electric power use and zero additional natural gas use. Project completed spring 2007.
